Former Lehigh student Ricardo Alvayero, 19, will face trial on charges of extortion Monday in Northampton County criminal court.
Alvayero, who was formerly in the class of 2010, told police he stole two computers and undergarments from the room of Sarah Wolfe, '10, in Taylor College on Jan. 26, according to police records.
Claiming he found suggestive photographs of Wolfe, '10, on her computer desktop, Alvayero allegedly threatened in an e-mail to expose the pictures to the campus if she did not forward him more pictures, according to police.
The FBI traced the IP address of the e-mail to Alvayero, police said, and brought him in for questioning.
Alvayero was charged with one count of interstate transmission of an extortionate communication in March, according to federal court records.
He also faces local charges, including two counts of burglary, three counts of theft and three counts of receiving stolen property, according to Lehigh police records.
Alvayero was released from prison on $100,000 unsecured bail in March. He awaits trial in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. under court-mandated house arrest.
