A sophomore student has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property after police allegedly found him with a MacBook Pro that had been stolen from another Lehigh student.
Justin G. Lee, '11, was arrested and arraigned on Aug. 22, police said.
The $1,800 laptop had been reported stolen from the dormitory room of Steven Balter, '11, on April 23.
Police were notified in August by Library and Technology Services that the computer was connecting from a room in the Delta Phi fraternity, which is occupied by Lee, according to the court affidavit.
Police arrested Lee who then told police during an interview that he stole and kept the laptop, according to the affidavit.
Balter, who writes for The Brown and White, declined to comment on the case.
University spokeswoman Sarah Cooke confirmed that Lee is still a student at Lehigh. She said that students charged with a crime are subject to the university's code of conduct.
Lee's hearing is set for Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem District Court on 202 W. Fourth St.
