The Mountain Hawks entered Fisher Stadium at Lafayette facing both a losing season of last-minute losses and a four-year winning streak from Lafayette College.

But once Lafayette junior quarterback Rob Curley threw an interception late in the fourth quarter that was returned 94 yards for a touchdown, making the score 31-15, it was clear the Mountain Hawks had won.

The Hawks and Leopards played in front of a sold out crowd at Fisher Stadium for the 144th meeting of college football's oldest rivalry.

The Hawks took a 17-12 lead into halftime and never relinquished their lead.

Lehigh sophomore quarterback J.B. Clark, who threw for 201 yards and two touchdown passes, was named the MVP of the game. Clark threw for 201 yards and 2 touchdown passes.

Lehigh finishes the season with a 5-6 record overall, 4-2 in the Patriot League.

Lafayette will finish the season with a 7-4 record overall, 3-3 Patriot League.

Senior wide receiver Sekou Yansane said he was glad to finish his career with a win.

"Anytime you can come in a rivalry game and win in your senior year it's awesome," Yansane said.

The game's first drive saw the Hawks Heath Brickner intercept a pass. Later, senior Jason Leo kicked in a 40-yard field goal to put the Hawks up 3-0.

After a short Leopards punt, senior wide receiver Mike Fitzgerald put the Hawks up 10-0 with a 29 yard touchdown catch. The Leopards fired back with a touchdown on a 62-yard jet sweep by senior wide receiver Shaun Adair, making the score 10-7.

The Leopards came within one point after the getting a safety, then took a 12-10 lead after sophomore kicker Davis Rodriguez scored a 34-yard field goal.

After a series of punts, the Hawks drove down the field, ending up with a 14-yard touchdown catch by senior wide receiver Nick Johnson.

The Hawks entered halftime with a 17-12 lead and never looked back.

The Leopards switched to junior quarterback Rob Curley, who was the MVP in last year's game, in the second half. The third quarter was a back and forth affair until Rodriguez hit a 22-yard field goal to make the score 17-15.

The Hawks looked to put the game away with a one yard touchdown run by senior fullback Adam Watson. However, the Leopards didn't quit.

Driving inside the Hawks ten yard line with less than five minutes left to play in the fourth quarter, sophomore John Kennedy intercepted the pass and raced 94 yards for a defensive touchdown. The touchdown sealed the game and gave the Hawks a 31-14 lead.

The win is also the first at Fisher Stadium since 2000.
