A student reported that she was assaulted at about 9:15 p.m. Friday, May 1 near Neville Hall in the area of Packer Avenue, according to a safety bulletin sent to the campus community Friday night by Chief of Police Edward Shupp.
The victim reported that she was approached from behind by two males, according to the bulletin. In her report, she provided a physical description of one of the suspects, describing him as Hispanic, approximately 6 feet tall and of medium tone and build. She also reported that he had a goatee and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, a dark-colored New York Yankees hat and a diamond stud earring in his right ear, according to the bulletin.
That suspect was carrying a sharp instrument that appeared to be a
knife, according to the victim's report. He knocked the victim to the ground before striking her in the face, according to the bulletin. She also sustained cuts to her chest and was treated for minor injuries on campus but refused additional medical treatment, according to the bulletin.
She was not able to provide a physical description of the second suspect, according to the bulletin.
Shupp's e-mail indicated that the suspects have not been apprehended, but the case is being investigated by the Lehigh University Police Department. He urged anyone witnessing a suspicious person or activity to contact the Lehigh University Police Department.
Shupp reminded students to take safety precautions, such as using TRACS at night.
