Student Senate met for its eighth and last meeting of the semester on Tuesday, April 21.

Hana Horakova, '11, club affairs chair, said the committee has set its goals for next semester and plans to start early on their fall agenda. To increase communication between senate and club presidents, the committee suggested that senators sit in on the first few club meetings of next semester.

Student Senate voted at the meeting to give trial recognition to the Brown and Black and the Debate Team.

The healthy living committee has finalized plans for the installation of hand-washing signs in the bathrooms around campus after meeting with the health center over the past two weeks, said Nicole Albano, '10, healthy living committee chair.

The transportation committee is looking into a program that will bring Lehigh students into major cities such as Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York and Boston over University breaks, said Hilary Lewis, '11, transportation committee chair. This is similar to the "Thanksgiving Bus" program that already exists on campus.

The LTS Advisory committee hopes to use the $10,000 grant over the summer to install the new plasma screens around campus, said student senate secretary Beth Kertz, '11.

Darius Callier, '11, social justice committee chair, said he is working on establishing a place where students can report acts of racism, sexism and bigotry. He met with President Gast this past week to discuss solutions for social injustices on Lehigh's campus.

Executive board elections were held at the meeting on Tuesday. Congratulations to the newly elected executive board: Beth Kertz, '11, president; Nicole Albano, '10, vice president; Binay Patel, '10, treasurer; Hana Horakova, '11, secretary; Claude Esposito, '11, parliamentarian; and Fiona Lee, '12, club affairs chair.

Jordan Giallanzo, '10, vice president of student senate, thanked all the senators for a great spring semester and said, "We made great strides and I really appreciated everyone's efforts this year.
