Lehigh was named the No. 14 party school in the United States, according to Playboy Magazine's 2009 list of Top Party Schools.
The University of Miami took the top spot.
The magazine based the ranking of the top schools on five categories: "Bikini," judging attractiveness, "Campus," judging involvement in campus activities, "Sports," judging school spirit, "Brains", judging academics, and finally, "Sex," judging the promiscuity of students.
The rest of the top 25 were ranked based on nominations submitted to the magazine.
According to the Playboy Web site, the high ratio of males to females hurt Lehigh in the rankings, while the presence of Greek life was a plus.
The Web site incorrectly reported that 70 percent of the Lehigh community is involved in Greek life.
The actual percentage is a little more than 30 percent, according to the office of fraternity and sorority affairs' Web site.
James Facey, '11, said it was ironic that this ranking was released shortly after Lehigh's ranking dropped significantly in BusinessWeek's annual Best Undergraduate Business School poll.
"Alice Gast is not going to be too happy about this," Facey said.
Jordan Paeth, '11, said he does not agree with the ranking.
"If we are No. 14, I feel bad for the rest of the country," Paeth said.
Correction: The original version of this article incorrectly said that Lehigh was the top private school on the list. The University of Miami is a private school. The Brown and White regrets the error.

I remember when we used to just be a footnote on the survey... Lehigh and University of Wisc at Madison are professional party schools and therefore do not qualify. (Continued…)

As Tom put it, University of Miami, the school that took the top spot in the ranking, is a private school. Maybe you were confused with Miami University in Ohio which is a public school? A small mistake, but maybe an oversight that bears some weight. (Continued…)

When I left for college in the late '60s, my college of choice was #1 on Playboy's Party schools. Big Deal. At any school, you find a wide variety of students, and even at party schools, you find non-partyers. (Continued…)
30% ??

I've heard from friends that work in admissions that the 30% is based on the number of greeks that live on campus first semester, therefore not including greek upperclassmen that live off campus, and the freshmen that rush in the Spring. (Continued…)

According to the Business Week poll, Lehigh dropped from 25 (2008) to 26 (2009). Not sure if I qualify that as "Lehigh's ranking dropped significantly in BusinessWeek's annual Best Undergraduate Business School poll". (Continued…)

This school hasn't been a 'party school' since I was a freshmen and we were coming off our #3 high. Fact is, this place has gone from bad to worse, and I'm not talking only about partying. (Continued…)

Ethan is absolutely correct. As a member of the class of 1980, I could not put it better myself. And to make matters worse, there is no grade inflation at Lehigh and the professors make (made?) a point of humuliating everyone with their exam grading curves. (Continued…)
