Engineer wins top honor



Nader Okasha, a doctoral candidate in structural engineering, recently won the 2009 Nevada Medal for Distinguished Graduate Student Paper in Bridge Engineering.

Okasha won the international award for his work developing an integrated framework for the structural management of bridge and ship structures under uncertainty, according to a release.



Spring on Fourth festival



"Spring on Fourth! What's on Third?" Street Festival and Chili Cook-off will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Third, Fourth and New streets.

Many South Side stores and restaurants will offer discounts and specials to celebrate the day.
