Editorial: Legitimate party rankings?

Playboy U, an online branch of Playboy targeted to college students, recently announced its 2009 top party schools. Lehigh jumped back up the list, landing at No. 14 out of 25 after not making the list in 2006.

The higher party position calls to mind all the "Lehigh was way better before you got here," and "just imagine how it was before the cops cracked down" nostalgia. Are these complaints legitimate anymore? Are we holding our own as a party school, and just continuing to complain?

The sudden jump in rank calls another question into play: just how legitimate is this survey?

Playboy U referred to Lehigh being 70 percent Greek and as having 30 percent more men than women, stats that are inaccurate.

The rankings seem a bit arbitrary, and it leads us to question where and how Playboy U got its data and sources.

Perhaps the ranking's legitimacy or lack thereof isn't as important as Lehigh's improved party morale.

With Lehigh climbing back up the party rankings, students don't have to feel so nostalgic anymore.
