I attended Lehigh from the fall 1954 to the spring of 1958. As a freshman I remember that that weekend was a really big one. Somehow, even as freshmen, we were assigned a time to protect the to-be bonfire from being set by Lafayette students. The pile of wood was huge. I have a distant memory that I may have been told to get wood for the fire.

Based on my yearbook, we lost that game 46-0. Those were simpler times. The threat of the Korean War was still there. You knew you had to do time in the military. Drugs were not really known. Errol Flynn and Marlon Brando were charged with doing some kind of drugs. I don't think binge drinking went on because we went downtown to various pubs after classes several times during the week. Crime was unknown on the campus. I would suspect that from 1952 to 1962 were the best years to be student at Lehigh.
