RSSMoravian College senior Leslie Pope and Lehigh graduate student John Wagner, '08, were brought to Bethlehem police headquarters after refusing to pay the mandatory 18 percent gratuity at Lehigh Pub at 4 New St. on Oct. 23, according to an article in The Express Times.
Pope and Wagner were part of an eight-member party at happy hour. After what Wagner described as "terrible service," they were charged with a $16.35 service charge on top of their $73.87 tab.
The group reportedly waited longer than one hour for salad and wings, refilled their drinks themselves at the bar and found their own napkins and silverware as the waitress smoked outside.
The Lehigh Pub general manager declined to comment.
Both Pope and Warner pleaded not guilty and await a summary trial before District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez.

Give that pub as much publicity as possible. Tell all your friends and ask them to spread the word around town. Ask what a mandatory "gratuity" is (apart from a contradiction in terms). (Continued…)

Well I really say the old saying. Bad press is better then no press but I think with what happened here is NOT good for bussiness, Yelp shows there average score is now on a scale of 5-1 5 being high now at a 1. (Continued…)

Say what? Now not tipping is an arrestable offense. Stay away from that pub and stay away from that city so you don't get arrested

Can't believe the police would even consider arresting anyone under these circumstances. Restaurant manager needs to be fired and the arresting officer needs to be disciplined. (Continued…)

The negative publicity this pub is getting will cost a whole lot more than the $16. This is the last place I would go for anything.

Wow, dumb waitress, manager, and even DUMBER police. I'm glad this made public news. Hopefully it will drive the owners out of business. Everyone should call the pub - (610) 868-1313 and let them know they will NEVER eat there. (Continued…)
