1916: Lehigh celebrated its 50th anniversary.

1939: Dr. Kash Peters, assistant director of health services, died in a housefire after he fell asleep while smoking a cigarette.

1943: Margaret Lams, the only female research worker, became the first woman scientist on campus.

1948: Lehigh increased tuition. The tuition of a student in the College of Engineering was raised to $300 per semester. The tuition of a student in the College of Arts and Sciences was raised to $275 per semester.

1976: Comedians Cheech and Chong were scheduled to perform at Lehigh but missed the performance when they got lost on the way from the airport and were pulled over for speeding.

1984: A fire struck M&M, causing over $100,000 in damages to the building.

1988: Fraternities were required to undergo renovations to remove toxic glue.
