The men's basketball team wants to continue a two-game Patriot League winning streak on Wednesday at 7 pm.
In their last meeting, the Midshipmen beat the Mountain Hawks in Annapolis 83-94. Lehigh has displayed more strength across the board however, coming into the game with a record of 14-8 compared to the Midshipmen's 11-12 record.
Since the loss to Navy, the Hawks are 5-1 with big wins over Lafayette College, American University and the College of the Holy Cross. Navy is 3-3 and has lost to those three schools.
"We expect to come away with a win. They beat us the first time we played them, so we are definitely looking to get some redemption," junior guard Prentice Small said. "We have been working on our transition defense. They are a very good transition team. They hit a lot of threes in transition, so if we stop that then we give ourselves a great chance to win."
Head Coach Brett Reed said that this time around, the team needs to do a better job defensively.
"We're directing our focus and intensity on the defensive end of the floor," Reed said. "I hope the team is up for the challenge and ready to compete in what is sure to be a tough contest and an important game."
Reed said the team is not taking Navy lightly.
"Navy is currently tied for third in the Patriot League, making them one of the more imposing teams and a very formidable opponent for Lehigh, which should result in a hard-fought game," he said. "All Patriot League games are very important because their outcomes directly determine the playoffs."
